826 Valencia is the original chapter in the 826 Network, providing free writing and publishing programs from its flagship location: a Pirate Supply Store in the heart of the Mission.
The team at 826 Valencia came to us overwhelmed by their digital footprint. They loved their whimsical, illustrative brand, but their website had become disorganized and inconsistent. The staff struggled to update or create pages, and their audience couldn’t easily find opportunities to volunteer, donate, or sign-up for programs.
Arrr mission? Maintain the website’s visual identity while updating the site architecture and user experience to make it feel as good as it looks.
The redesign process began with a relentless focus on user journeys. We developed a simplified navigation structure that clarified opportunities to get involved. Then we made student voices a centerpiece, featuring their writing, podcast episodes, and published books.
On the technical side, we charted a direct path to the volunteer calendar, integrated Classy for donor management, added multilingual support, and created new, no-code templates for easy updates. Now the 826 Valencia team has everything they need to steer their ship into clear waters.
