For more than 50 years, PathWays of Southwestern Pennsylvania has provided dedicated support, care, and attention to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. Their mission is ambitious: Help everyone find their way to a fulfilling life.

PathWays serves 1,600+ families annually and is now the second-largest employer in Washington County—but its digital experience hadn’t kept pace with the organization.

PathWays’ services were scattered across multiple domains, lacking a unified website that told the organization’s full story. Their leadership wanted a new website that made it easy for visitors—including families, potential partners, and job seekers—to sort through resources and find exactly what they need.

In close partnership with Landesberg Design, our work began with a thorough discovery process, including stakeholder interviews, that revealed a key insight: every visitor to the site needs a path forward.

With this idea as our guide, we consolidated PathWays’ fragmented digital presence into a single, cohesive website organized around simple service descriptions and intuitive wayfinding. With a “Find Your Path” navigation feature at its core, the new site architecture provides a clear route to the most relevant information. In parallel, we wrote updated website copy that reflects both the complexity and the humanity of the organization’s work.

PathWays serves people at some of the most important and overwhelming moments of their lives. The new site meets them there, with clear navigation, accessible language, and a warm design.

PathWays runs six programs that operate as independent entities, including services for infants, children, and adults. We used clear headlines and a carefully chosen color palette to distinguish each program while making them all feel connected.

We used a monochromatic treatment to unify images sourced from multiple sources and maintain focus on what matters most: the people.

The new digital experience introduces a Knowledge Center featuring searchable resources and a subject glossary, positioning PathWays as a trusted authority for families navigating IDD and autism.
